Direct fired heaters work by burning fuel directly to produce heat, which is then blown into the space. In this process, the air that is heated passes directly through the combustion chamber, meaning the heated air may contain combustion byproducts like carbon dioxide, water vapor, and, depending on the fuel and burner efficiency, trace amounts of carbon monoxide.
